YOUR INITIAL VISIT

Your initial visit is the first step in diagnosing and treating your infertility. We understand that you are likely eager to get in for an appointment as soon as possible, so we will get you in as quickly as possible. We offer appointments in-person and through video conferencing during daytime and evening hours

What happens during the initial visit?

The initial visit begins with an in-depth consultation with Dr. Kelly. During this meeting, you and Dr. Kelly will review your medical history, look over any previous medical records and tests you may have had, and outline a plan for diagnostic testing and potential treatment options. In addition, a careful review of your nutrition, supplements and other lifestyle factors will be undertaken as they may have an impact on optimizing conception.  Dr. Kelly will also take time to answer any of your questions. We encourage you to send records to be reviewed ahead of your appointment.

Following the consultation, Dr. Kelly will begin diagnostic testing to allow her to make a definitive diagnosis. The diagnostic testing done at the initial visit may include a physical exam, a pelvic ultrasound and blood work for specific fertility related hormonal levels.

A personalized plan will be given to you to include completion of all diagnostic testing, taking care to avoid repeating tests you may recently had performed. Treatment options and their success are based on a full evaluation which includes up to date testing to include all factors known to play a part in reproduction.

Can I bring someone with me to my initial visit?

We want you to be comfortable throughout your experience with us.  Therefore, we invite you to meet with Dr. Kelly one on one or with your partner, if you have one. You are also welcome to bring a supportive family member or friend to any of your visits.

Is the initial visit covered by insurance?

The initial visit is typically covered by insurance. If you don’t have insurance, the fee for the visit can be charged to a credit card.

Initial consultations can be done via telemedicine or telephone and submitted to insurance.

If I don’t live locally, can I have an initial visit by phone or video conference?

Yes. We often work with individuals and couples who are not local. We will set up your initial consultation with Dr. Kelly by  phone or video conference, whichever you prefer. If diagnostic testing is needed following the consultation we can coordinate this with physicians or testing centers near you. Video conferences can be submitted to insurance.

How long does an initial visit last?

The consultation with Dr. Kelly typically lasts between 45 minutes to an hour. If you stay for initial diagnostic testing, this can take up to an additional 30 minutes.

We ask that you:

  • Submit completed New Patient Forms to our EMR prior to your visit. A link to these will be sent to you in a welcome email after you make your initial appointment

  • Medical records from any previous fertility evaluation or treatment (if you have a partner, please submit records for both of you)

  • Insurance card and form of identification (if you have a partner, we’ll need these for both of you)
